HOME SCHOOL
A wide variety of program choices are available to help meet your educational goals. Come as a family, or come as a group with other families. We welcome mixed-age groups and are happy to customize a program to meet your needs.
PLAN 1: On your Own
There is plenty to learn on your own. Self tour the Exhibit Hall, explore the hands-on Discovery Den, check out the Urban Wildlife Observation Center, learn about geology, and observe over 20 live animals! Ask for an alphabet scavenger hunt at the front desk to add a challenge to your visit.
Discounted group admission: $5/student (min. 15 students)
One adult per family is free; additional adults $5
PLAN 2: Guided Tour & Animal Presentation
Home school families are encouraged to plan a field trip together to take advantage of the group rate (15+ students). Your museum visit will include a guided tour of the museum's collection of 100 mounted animals with an emphasis on your chosen area of study, and a live animal presentation. Your fee covers all-day admission, so, feel free to explore on your own before or after. Program is 1 hour.
Cost: $6/student (min. 15 students)
One adult per family is free; additional adults $5
PLAN 3: Guided Tour, Animal Presentation, & Classroom
Classroom programs designed to meet State of Illinois educational goals are available to enhance your Plan 2 field trip experience. Groups can add a classroom experience to dig in deeper to their subject. Classroom typically involves hands-on projects, group activities, and group discussion. Your fee covers all-day admission, so, feel free to explore on your own before or after. Program is 2 hours.
